Greg Hart has been living in Charleston, SC for 20+ years. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2001 with a degree in Media Arts - he focused on Film and Television and interned at 20th Century Feature Casting in Los Angeles. Hart worked at CNN for a year, leaving after 9/11 to pursue illustration, with postgraduate stints at the Atlanta College of Art and the Illustration Academy.

He then freelanced with illustrations appearing in The Washington Post, Utne Reader, and USA Today. In 2009, Greg travelled to Paris and upon returning, abandoned commercial art for more personal work. He found a voice in photography-based portraiture and explored that subject for 12 years.

His art work has been featured in Charleston Magazine, The Jealous Curator, Art Hound, Azalea Magazine, Art Mag, Studio Visit, and Four Charlotte. He has exhibited work with The George Gallery, Gris Galerie, Eyedrum Atlanta, The Southern, Redux Contemporary Art Center, Gap Gallery, and Charleston City Gallery.

Since 2021, Hart has focused on text-based paintings, combining color, texture, and word play. His most recent project is a coloring book called Word Smatter launching on July 7th, 2025.
